Description

The Joaquin Bustoz Math-Science Honors Program (JBMSHP) at Arizona State University is an intensive summer program designed for motivated high school juniors and seniors interested in pursuing STEM careers — science, technology, engineering, and math.

 

Earn 3 university credits and get a head start on math or computer science prerequisites for your STEM major

Live in an ASU student residence hall and experience college life firsthand

Learn about STEM majors and careers

Get college-ready with academic success tips and guidance from current ASU students

 

Courses and dates: Sunday, May 31 to Friday, July 10, 2026

MAT 117: College Algebra         

MAT 170: Pre-Calculus

MAT 265: Calculus for Engineers I

CSE 110: Principles of Programming with Java

 

Cost

The JBMSHP is FREE to attend!! This includes tuition, room and board, and all classroom materials.

 

Eligibility Requirements

High school junior or senior

Cumulative 3.25 GPA (unweighted)

“A” or "B" grades in high school math and science courses

Seniors: Must be admitted to ASU and plan to attend in fall 2026

Qualify for Arizona in-state tuition (based on Arizona Board of Regents guidelines)

Must have lived in Arizona for the last 2 years

 

Special consideration is given to first-generation college-bound students, those from low-income households, and students from diverse backgrounds across Arizona, including rural communities and Native Nations.

 

Application deadlines

Student application: February 17, 2026

Letter of recommendation: February 19, 2026
