The JBMSHP received over $70k to support STEM and retention activities.

The JBMSHP was honored to receive a $71,500 grant from the APS Foundation, whose mission is to support programs that advance academic achievement in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Since 1981, the APS Foundation has invested more than $44 million in initiatives across Arizona that prepare students to thrive in the 21st-century workforce. By supporting projects that strengthen STEM instruction and teacher effectiveness, the Foundation plays a vital role in building a pipeline of skilled talent critical to Arizona’s economic future.
This summer, JBMSHP students participated in a unique learning experience where they explored aerospace engineering concepts through the lens of “Star Wars” technology. As part of the hands-on activity, each student received a “Star Wars” LEGO set to apply what they learned in a fun and engaging way. Students also went on a field trip to Odysea Aquarium where they learned about aquatic ecosystems and marine life. Thank you to APS and the APS Foundation for their continued support and investment in Arizona’s future STEM leaders.
